TECNOSUGHERI (DISTRIBUTOR OF AMORIM CORK INSULATION) IS PARTNER OF THE SHROUD EVENT IN 2015

April 17, 2015

Tecnosugheri (distributor of Amorim Cork Insulation) is partner of the Shroud Event in 2015 due to the partnership with start-up be-eco of Politecnico di Torino, which helped to create the Penitenzieria - place for penance for pilgrims who are visiting the Holy Shroud, making the insulation of the assembly.

Of the collaboration between the Committee of the Shroud and the start-up be-eco, based in the Incubator of Innovative Companies of the Politecnico di Torino I3P, a project of sustainable architecture designed for the reception of pilgrims who visit Turin for the Holy Shroud Exhibition in 2015 was born.

Open to the public from the day of launch of the exhibition in Piazza San Giovanni in front of the Cathedral, the building serves as Penitenzieria - place for penance, offering pilgrims at the end of the visit to the Shroud a space for a moment of silence.

The project

To accommodate the pilgrims, the start-up be-eco, with whom Tecnosugheri collaborated in developing new and innovative solutions for the cladding and insulation, designed a sustainable eco structure, in which the protagonist is the expanded insulation corkboard Corkpan in the thermal and acoustic insulation.

The Penitenzieria, is the name of the building, which was built with a support structure made of laminated wood, insulated with Expanded Insulation Corkboard Corkpan and finished with external elements in OSB produced in Piedmont in one of the most important panels production facilities in Europe.

The building, a prototype of sustainable architecture - ECO Home TM - was based on the ITACA Protocol, thanks to the technical collaboration of iiSBE Italy, and will stay three months in San Giovanni Square during which it will be monitored for energy consumption thanks to collaboration with the Politecnico di Torino.

The Expanded Insulation Corkboard - Corkpan

The Expanded Insulation Corkboard Corkpan was used in the roof with 100 mm thick boards, between the timber structure studs with a thickness of 60mm and with 40mm thick boards outside on which ventilated façade is supported.

The building entrance is lined with MD facade to emphasize the sustainable eco philosophy that characterizes the whole project.

The use after the event

On 24 June, at the end of the Holy Shroud Exhibition, the project will be part of the Festival of Architecture in the City 2015 (June 30-July 4), organized by the Association of Architects of Turin Foundation (FOAT)
